Holiness and Sanctification

This book works to throw light on the way of holiness, and, with all the warmth and force of light and love, enters upon the business of leading the soul to God. This is one of the best books that can be placed in the hands of inquirers after full salvation in Christ. It bears the stamp of no one particular sect, but rather teaches the way of holiness in truth and love.

The term “holiness” is subject to a wide range of meanings. There are few terms that conjure up so many divergent ideas in the minds of those who hear it. Not only is this the case, but even within the compass of the Bible, “holiness” and its cognate term, “sanctification,” have a variety of meanings and applications.

Seven Steps to Full Salvation

This ladder is constructed on the plan described in the tract entitled ‘How to be Saved,’ and is intended for the use of those seeking for holiness of heart.

FIRST STEP - I AM A CHILD OF GOD

SECOND STEP - I KNOW, WITH SORROW, THAT SIN STILL EXISTS IN MY HEART AND LIFE

THIRD STEP - I BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST CAN SAVE ME FROM ALL SIN

FOURTH STEP - I NOW CHOOSE, WITH ALL MY HEART, TO BE HOLY

FIFTH STEP - I RENOUNCE ALL KNOWN SIN AND ALL DOUBTFUL THINGS

These chapters are intended as studies in the Biblical theology of holiness, and particularly of what we may call the synonyms for entire sanctification.  The material in these pages was prepared for delivery as the Aycock Lectures at Bethany Nazarene College during the spring term of 1959.
